Hi there, I'm Jen Olson.I'm a contemporary figurative artist based in Cromwell, New Zealand.
I use ink, graphite, acrylics, and gold leaf to create surreal and abstract figures. I like to capture the awkward exchanges, sublime moments, uncomfortable feelings, and fragile connections that make us gloriously human. To expose and explore our most curious, excruciating, and exquisite moments.
I particularly like to draw peoples' insides on the outside - to connect our psychology and our physical bodies, and to gently poke at our most vulnerable soft spots. Melancholy is my favourite mood, and I'm enchanted by awkward encounters. |

Emotions made visible. Fragments of our past knitted into scratchy garments.
