The red thread of fate is an invisible red cord that connects us to significant people in our lives (whether we want it to or not). In Chinese mythology it is wrapped around fingers or ankles of soulmates, destined to fall in love. Here I've played with the thread's connecting points, and with the idea that connections might not be as straightforward as the myths make it seem.
Drawing with thread is so expressive. Lines that live in three dimensions, that bend and give way to gravity or catch on the corner of the paper. Plus, this piece can be stretched or compressed to fit the space available. Keep an eye out for more works like this one. |
