A Cage Around My Heart
$600 760mm x 560mm. Graphite. There's nothing quite like a skeleton - we all have one, and for the most part they carry us around and keep us from falling on the ground. Sometimes I imagine our bones are strange accretions of our past. We're all made of cosmic dust, and we're all made of molecules of our ancestors.
We also carry around memories of people. I read a book where the main character described living with the memory of his late brother. "Sometimes I'd open my coat just a little to let him out, and there he would be: one hand over my shoulder and the other caging my heart." (I wish I could find this book, I can't remember the title or author.) |
