The Collectors

A joint show with Katie Robinson
27 March - 27 May 2026
Rachel Hirabayashi Gallery + Emporium
Cromwell Heritage Precinct

What do we inherit from the people who raised us?

Sometimes it's objects – like Katie Robinson's mother's lifelong accumulation of ceramics, or Jen Olson's father's carefully folded and annotated maps. Sometimes it’s a way of seeing – the impulse to notice, to gather, to keep.

Through painted plates and works inspired by maps, paths, and connections, Katie Robinson and Jen Olson revisit the collections that shaped them. These works honour what collectors know: that gathering creates comfort, repetition brings pleasure, and the act of sorting and naming and keeping is its own kind of love.

This exhibition celebrates the collectors in our lives: the ones who taught us that what we choose to keep, and how we care for it, can shape the way we understand the world.
